SWAT Team And Riot Police Called In To Break Up Fight Amongst Football Team
The sorry state of Singapore football took another downward step, as
this time, riot police and the SWAT team was called in to handle an
alleged brawl between two set of players after their football match had
ended. This time, the location is in Hougang Stadium, and one of the
team involved in the incident have been named as Yishun Sentek Mariners
FC. The incident allegedly happened on 27 July.
This is not the first time the team have been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, they were also involved in fights with Safsa last year. The bad reputation of the Yishun Sentek Mariners team spilled over this year too, as reports emerged that about 10 players from the side were involved in a shouting match after their game had ended. This soon escalated to about 4 players exchanging punches and kicks, while the rest continued their verbal assault.
It was not clear who called in the police, but the presence of officers in full riot gear was clearly seen. The players involved in the fight were spoken to by the police, but there were no arrests made. However, the coach of Yishun Sentek Mariners, Gusta Guzarishah was injured in the fight. No further details were given as to the nature of his injuries.
Something about Singapore football failing yet again, and Yishun being the center of all things wrong in Singapore.
