IN NEW BLOW TO ALREADY AILING MAS, U.S. DOWNGRADES MALAYSIA’S AIR SAFETY RATING, SAYS REPORT
A NEW US aviation ruling is set to prohibit any new flight services from Malaysia to the county, says a Reuters report.
Quoting four different sources, Reuters said the US Federal Aviation Administration has downgraded Malaysia’s air safety rating.
This will restrict Malaysia’s airlines from adding flights to the United States.
Under the new rating, Malaysia has been downgraded to Category 2.
The new rating means air carriers from the country cannot start new services and are restricted to existing services to the United States.
The carriers will also be subject to additional inspections at US airports.
The Malaysian Insight has contacted the Transport Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia for comment.
