SRC case: I'm shocked Najib is shocked, says Dr M

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad did not share former premier Najib Abdul Razak's sentiments over the ruling by Kuala Lumpur High Court for the latter to enter his defence on seven charges related to SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Najib's lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had said the Pekan MP was shocked with the decision, and Mahathir, when quizzed about the matter at a press conference this evening, said: "He was shocked? I am shocked that he is shocked."
"The whole world knows Najib is guilty. But you have to follow the rule of law.
"We send him to face the court to see whether he has a case, and (now) he has to answer," said the premier who earlier chaired a Bersatu supreme council meeting at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.

Mahathir also pointed out that Najib has been allowed bail, unlike individuals previously arrested for exposing the 1MDB scandal, including lawyer Matthias Chang and politician Khairuddin Abu Hassan.
"He (Najib) had a sore eye and he can still campaign... But can't appear in court.
"All these nonsense you get from him because we are being lenient and we follow the rule of law," he said in reference to Najib's appearance (above) in Tanjung Piai to campaign for BN candidate Wee Jeck Seng in the ongoing by-election.
Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam had earlier today blamed Mahathir for the verdict against Najib, alleging direct interference and perverting the course of justice.
"If he can prove it then he can do so (make the claim). I never interfered with the courts...," Mahathir stressed.
Lokman was among some 100 supporters of the former prime minister who had gathered outside the Kuala Lumpur court complex.
High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali earlier ordered Najib to enter his defence for abuse of power in relation to the Retirement Fund Incorporated's (KWAP) RM4 billion loan to SRC International, for committing criminal breach of trust and money laundering. - Mkini
