KUALA SELANGOR: A one-year-old baby girl was killed after she was hacked on the head by an uncle in a house in Kampung Parit Mahang, Jeram here yesterday.

Harian Metro quoted a resident, who did not wish to be identified as saying that the incident at noon on Sunday happened during an argument among family members.

"A member of the family had received a phone call about the argument, and went to the house and managed to break-off the argument.

"The suspect in his 20s then left the house. Not long after that, he went to another relative's house nearby.

"He brandished a parang to attack the relative, but it hit the one-year-old baby instead," the resident claimed.

It is learnt the suspect tried to lash the parang once again toward the same relative, but was held back by a family member.

"Police were called in and the man was detained not long after that. We cannot ascertain if the man was involved in drugs," said the resident.

When contacted, Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa confirmed the incident.

He said police were still investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The incident had also gone viral on Facebook, although the posting was later deleted by the user. - NST
