‘DON’T SIMPLY SAY’: EVEN BN ALLY CHANG YEOW SLAMS RAHMAN DAHLAN FOR SAYING GUAN ENG ‘BLACKLISTS’ FIRMS WITH TIES TO NAJIB REGIME

GEORGE TOWN — A Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) leader distanced his party from Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s allegation that the DAP-led state government discriminates against companies with ties to the federal ruling coalition.

Penang Gerakan chairman Teng Chang Yeow said the accusations were not backed by data.

“I don’t know anything about this and I don’t have any figures so I can’t comment on what Rahman Dahlan tweeted,” he told Malay Mail Online today when asked to comment on his BN colleague’s remarks.

Last night, the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department announced the government will blacklist companies found to have financed electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0.

Abdul Dahlan later took to Twitter with a list of eight reasons justifying the federal blacklist and fielded criticisms on the issue.

The Kota Belud MP with a Twitter account under the same name claimed that the “same practice is rampant in opposition-led states based on flimsy reasons” in response to Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi who had accused him of abusing his position to put in place the blacklist.

“I knw ur boss has a list of companies whc he deliberately sidelined just bcoz they r frm certain parties by claiming his prerogative rights,” Abdul Rahman tweeted to Ooi after the latter asked for proof.

Teng said such accusations can be made by anyone but it is important to back these with statistics and figures.
