KUALA LUMPUR: GrabCar and Uber are set to be officially legal in Malaysia after the Dewan Rakyat yesterday gave the green light for e-hailing services. Operators must apply for an intermediation business licence and adhere to conditions imposed by the government.

The lower house of Parliament passed amendments to the Land Public Transport Act 2010 and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 to legalise the provision of e-hailing services, as part of the Taxi Industry Transformation Plan (TITP).
