Najib lawyer: No charges, cops took personal items including bags
PETALING JAYA: No arrests have been made following the dramatic simultaneous searches of five locations linked to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Najib’s lawyer Datuk Harpal Singh Grewal told the media at 4am on Thursday (May 17) that police had searched Najib’s house in Taman Duta.
He said the family were cooperative.
“No documents were taken, nothing of note, only personal possessions including bags.”
“We believe that the police, will take out two to three boxes of items,” he said to the press gathered outside Najib’s residence.
“It's a big house so they had to search each room. That's why it took so long.”
“There are no arrests now and no indication that there will be an arrest” he said.
No charges were mentioned, although Harpal believes that it could be under the money laundering act.
He also confirmed that police had also searched an apartment in KL.
Earlier Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigations Department director Comm Datuk Seri Amar Singh confirmed that police performed searched five locations belonging to and connected to former PM.
These are believed to be his house in Taman Duta, Sri Perdana, two locations at Pavillion KL and the Prime Minister’s Office.
