Cheap ringgit set to rise as current account improves: UBS Group
HONG KONG (June 22): Malaysia’s ringgit is one of the region’s “cheapest” currencies and is set to strengthen later this year, as the nation’s current-account surplus improves, according to the wealth-management unit of UBS Group.
* Thailand’s baht and Indonesia’s rupiah may fall as their trade balances deteriorate, says Dominic Schnider, head of commodities and Asia-Pacific foreign exchange on Hong Kong.
* USD/MYR will initially rise to 4.10 in the next 3 months, before ringgit starts to appreciate.
