‘Deadpool 2’ Director in Talks to Lead ‘Enter the Dragon’ Remake

David Leitch, who made his directorial debut on the 2014 action film “John Wick” starring Keanu Reeves, is reportedly in talks to helm the remake of Bruce Lee’s 1973 martial arts classic, “Enter the Dragon.”

The remake is still in early development under Warner Bros. as the company has yet to release any information on casting and who will pen the script, according to Variety.

“Enter the Dragon,” directed by Robert Clouse and starred John Saxon and Jim Kelly, was the movie that helped cement Lee’s iconic status in martial arts movies. It was first released in Hong Kong on July 26, 1973, just days after the international actor’s death on July 20 at the age of 32.

The movie tells the story of a Shaolin martial artist who was pushed to enter a karate tournament on an island owned by Han, a suspected crime lord who uses the gathering as a cover-up to smuggle drugs around the world, Deadline reported.

Leitch directed the 2017 movie “Atomic Blonde” starring Charlize Theron and the recent hit movie sequel “Deadpool 2.” He is also attached to direct the “Fast and Furious” spinoff “Hobbs and Shaw” which stars Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson.
