KOTA BARU: PAS regards PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Port Dickson move as a sheer waste of public funds.

PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said forcing a by-election costing millions just to satisfy one’s political aspirations is a waste of the rakyat’s time and money.

“It is a waste of money just because a certain individual wants to be the prime minister.

“Why allow wastage when the nation is facing serious debt issues?” he asked.

Mohd Amar said this after PKR’s Port Dickson MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah’s move to step aside to pave the way for Anwar to contest in a by-election and make his return to Parliament.

Mohd Amar said it was not the first time PKR has wasted public funds by forcing a by-election.

“They also wasted public money when forcing a by-election in Kajang to suit their politically motivated Kajang Move,” he said.

The Kajang Move, engineered by Rafizi Ramli, was to pave the way for Anwar to contest in the state seat and replace Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor mentri besar.

However, the Court of Appeal overturned his acquittal by the High Court on a sodomy charge, forcing his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah to stand in his stead.

PKR had also forced by-elections in Penanti and Bukit Selambu in 2009.
