TIME FOR MAHATHIR TO PUT HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS? DE-TABOO MERITOCRACY – IT’S THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE A QUANTUM LEAP FOR MALAYSIA

“The politics of Umno and PAS have been the albatross of Malay progress – through uninhibited racism and politicisation of extremist religion. While the former breeds corruption, abuse of power and mediocrity; the latter entraps the intellect and obstructs progress.

Remedy? De-taboo meritocracy while retaining genuine affirmative action policy. That would release the flowering of talents in all fields: education, industry and commerce, and public service. And it is such talents that will propel Malaysia forward in the current hi-tech era.

But the pre-requsite to this is the removal of the millstones of racism and religious extremism.

For the first time in our six-decade history, we are given the chance to break out from our miserable past and create a brave new world for ourselves.

Can Pakatan Harapan do that? Not while the ship is piloted by a captain who has proven incapable of sufficiently shedding off his past stewardship which was the main cause of our past failure. And so, the sooner he passes on the helm the better.

Can he fully realise and accept that and do the necessary? If he can, that would be his unforgettable contribution to the nation, for which he has fought so hard to save and succeeded in pulling the brake on verge of a precipitous plunge.”
