PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief strategist Datuk Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Arif has asked on Twitter whether YB be rebranded from "Yang Berhormat" to "Yang Berkhidmat"
This was a question posed on Saturday (Oct 13), saying that it might give "a new sense of service" to the people instead of "demanding respect".
Dr Rais posted this on his Twitter account, reminding Malaysians that it is them who pay the salaries of the "Yang Berhormat" and asked them what they think of the suggestion.
His Twitter followers almost unanimously agreed with the suggestion.
."I agree. We have given them too much respect until now they start thinking they are untouchable. You respect me I respect you back." Twitter user @stentorpplvoice said.
Twitter user @shahrulasraf77 also reminded everyone that the "Yang Berhormat" were elected to serve the people.
"Agree. The 'Yang Berhormat' title holders think that it is for people to respect. when in fact it is the people who elected to serve the people. They should be called 'Yang Berkhidmat' instead," he said.
Some users even suggested that the "Yang Amat Berhormat" title should be changed to "Yang Amat Berkhidmat", citing high level ranking ministers including the Prime Minister.-Star
