AS NURUL, RAFIZI & KHAIRY MEET AGAIN FOR ANOTHER HIGH-PROFILE LUNCH, PKR OFFICIAL AS GOOD AS CONFIRMS IT’S UNHAPPINESS AT HOW MAHATHIR’S BERSATU IS PUSHING PAKATAN ASTRAY WITH ITS REFUSAL TO STICK TO REFORM AGENDA THAT MADE HER QUIT

IT appears Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin and former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli have become regular lunch buddies.
For the second time this month, the three have met at lunchtime. Today’s date at Alexis restaurant in Bangsar.
Khairy posted on Instagram a picture of them together.
Yesterday, Nurul Izzah announced her resignation as PKR vice-president and Penang party chairman, as well as from her federal government appointments, including chairman of the special task force for technical and vocational education training.
The defections have started talks of a power struggle going on between PH titans Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of Bersatu and prime minister-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim of PKR, Nurul Izzah’s father.
Nurul Izzah’s announcement also followed the lashing out of PKR member and rights lawyer Latheefa Koya against nepotism in the party after the appointment of certain leaders as state chiefs.
In her statement, Nurul Izzah said she held dear “beliefs and ideals” that she could be ould be “most true to them” with her resignation.
Meanwhile, she remains division chief of Permatang Pauh, where she is MP.
Rafizi and Khairy have been supportive of Nurul Izzah.
Rafizi said he respected her decision and saw it as a matter principle.
“Izzah is a reformist and a fighter. She is not pulling back from politics. I read this as a decision to remain with the struggles of idealism in the chaos of politics.”
Khairy, an MP from rival Umno, in his tweet yesterday described Nurul Izzah as “an exemplary MP and worthy opponent”.
“I am sure once the country is finally ready for a generational change in politics, @n_izzah will be back. It would be a terrible waste if she doesn’t return to frontline politics,” he wrote.
It was reported that the three young politicians regularly met to catch up on current national issues, despite coming from rival parties.
Earlier this month, Rafizi posted on Instagram a picture of the three politicians on a lunch date. He said it was their wont to meet up for a meal  every now and then.

Developments in Pakatan made Nurul Izzah quit, says Saifuddin

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who had a meeting with Nurul Izzah Anwar for almost two hours yesterday, said that he surmised that internal developments in Pakatan Harapan drove her to quit as PKR vice-president, Penang PKR chairman, and from the government posts she was holding.
“It was not due to internal issues in PKR as some have speculated… but more to what is happening in PH itself,” he said when met by reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
“Having known Nurul Izzah for some 20 years, she holds fast to the idealism of her struggle, is very committed to the reform agenda, and really wanted to see PH follow through on this agenda for the people’s betterment. With that, I respect her decision,” he said.
He said Nurul Izzah had chosen the best path for herself by remaining as Permatang Pauh MP so that she can continue to give her views via Parliament.
Asked about replacements for the posts Nurul Izzah has given up, Saifuddin said Nurul Izzah was an elected vice-president, and the party had to refer to its constitution as to whether the vacancy could be filled via appointment by the president.
“Anwar is on a holiday now. I am only acting (secretary-general) and have been asked to carry out secretary-general duties until a new secretary-general is appointed.
Saifuddin said that he had yet to receive an official resignation letter from Nurul Izzah. – Bernama
