Arrested for criticising DAP reps, Sibu PAS member tests positive for meth
A Sibu PAS member, who was arrested for allegedly criticising four DAP lawmakers in a Facebook posting, has tested positive for drugs.
The Star Online quoted Sibu chief police Stanley Jonathan Ringgit as saying that a urine test conducted on the suspect today came back positive for methamphetamine.
According to Ringgit, the suspect – a 40-year-old tahfiz school manager – was arrested on Thursday and has been remanded for further investigation.
An assistant of Lanang MP Alice Lau had lodged a police report after coming across the suspect's Facebook page, he added.
"In the post, the owner of the Facebook page said he hopes that four MPs from DAP will perish for failing to organise a 'back to school' campaign for their constituencies," he said.
Ringgit said that the suspect intended to inform voters that the DAP lawmakers had purportedly failed to fulfil their election pledges to serve the people.
The suspect, he added, claimed that since these MPs are from the government, they should have had no problems getting funds to organise activities for their constituents.
The suspect was remanded under Section 223 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the improper use of network facilities, and Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
Upon conviction, Section 223 of the CMA carries a maximum jail term of one year, an RM50,000 fine, or both. Section 507 of the Penal Code, meanwhile, is punishable by up to two years in prison. - Mkini
