Dr M looking into Women's March controversy, says Syed Saddiq
The cabinet had discussed the recent Women's March which is now being investigated under Sedition Act, said Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
"In the last cabinet meeting, we discussed about the Women's March, you know, some of them might be charged under the Sedition Act," he told reporters when attending the Asia GT Festival 2019 opening ceremony at Sepang International Circuit today.
"After the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) mentioned he will look into it," he said.
Syed Saddiq said he personally disagreed with the police for investigating the organisers of the event under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
On March 9, several women groups organised the march in conjuction with International Womens' Day.
The presence of LGBT participants at the march sparked strident criticism from both sides of the political divide.
