Inspired by caricature mocking Najib, NGO ''makes clowns' of Harapan ministers

Four Cabinet ministers have been immortalised in "clown face" caricature stickers released by NGO Sedar and sold as part of a townhall session featuring former premier Najib Abdul Razak and other Barisan Nasional leaders.

Sedar president Nazrin Norani told a group of supporters gathered at Dewan Merdeka in PWTC that the stickers were partly inspired by activist Fahmi Reza's infamous Najib clown face caricature.

"But we don't just focus on one leader. We will make 'clowns' of all of their leaders!," said Nazrin who mocked the featured leaders for their allegedly inconsistent and wild statements.

The four ministers drawn as clown caricatures in black and white with red noses and lips are Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Education Minister Maszlee Malik, Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

The hashtag #apasudahjadi was also printed to accompany each of the images.

Despite no longer holding any office in government or Umno, Nazrin noted that Fahmi continued to mock the Pekan MP, including through his latest April Fools prank of taking orders for a supposed Najib clown figurine.

"If they can do that why can't we do the same? And we can do so much better," he said.

Last October, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court acquitted and discharged Fahmi, after a trial that went on for more than two years, on a charge of uploading a caricature of Najib on his Instagram account.

When met at his booth set-up outside the hall, Nazrin said the stickers were first launched about a week ago and sold individually or as a set of four designs to raise fund for their activities.

The "2019: Politik Malaysia Baru" townhall session organised by NGO Benar Malaysia is held on the sidelines of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fest at PWTC, which also houses Umno's headquarters. - Mkini
