Non Muslims Targeted To Be Killed By Two Rohingyas, One Indon And One Local Salafi
THE FOLLOWING WAS WRITTEN BY NORMAN FERNANDEZ.
Non-Muslims can breathe a sigh of relief. They were targets to be murdered.
Once again, we owe a deep gratitude to the police for foiling yet another terror plan. Today, the Inspector General of Police revealed that the police had apprehended two Rohingyas - one with an UNCHR tag and who was a member of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army and another a member of Islamic State, an Indonesian who was working as a labourer in a zinc factory who together with a Malaysian were planning to attack Hindu and Buddhist temples and Christian churches as well as entertainment outlets. Police found on them a 9mm CZ pistol with 15 bullets, samurai swords with Arabic inscriptions, and Improvised Explosive Device ( pipe bombs). The four suspects admitted to have planned to carry out the terror attacks during the first week of Ramadan.
By the way, if you know Syazani Mahzan 35, Muhammad Nuurul Azizan 27, and Indonesian Fatir Tir, well, they are on the run and if you have any information, do give ASP Manivanan Sibalingam at 017-3278435 a phonecall or call the nearest police-station.
Non-Muslims surely remember the recent Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka, where the calm of the blessed Easter Sunday was shattered when Muslim terrorists bombed churches and luxury hotels. The scale of the attack on St Anthony’s Church, Colombo, St Sebastian’s Church in Negombo and the Zion Church in Batticaloa - all in three diffferent towns showed how intense the planning had gone into it, for it to be successfully executed. The terrorists simply wanted death and they desired the lives of the Christians -dead.
We saw images and footage of charred and bloodied pews with bodies still in seated positions while some were lying sprawled on the floor, there were broken and shattered glass and plumes of smoke. Some Churches even had their roofs blown. We saw graphic images of human flesh ripped by the intensity of the blast, splattered on the walls and bodies many blown to bits. Death was everywhere. We grimaced in pain watching the emergency personnels struggling to rush the injured and the barely alive into ambulances and other vehicles. We watched security personnels collect body parts, many ripped beyond recognition and putting them in body bags. Heart wrenching was seeing the bodies dead children, their immaculate white dresses now bloodied, sprawled and lying lifeless on the ground, who only moments earlier was so excited to going to receive their First Communion.
Of course, the terrorists who caused the massacre also died. But, they had no qualms of dying. For them, it was a jihad and they were waging war on the infidels and their reward was a place in heaven and the 72 virgins as their gifts. They achieved their mission and aim. Ask the terrorists ( if they were alive) if what they did was wrong, they would point to verse 2:191 “Kill them wherever you find them” or verse 9:5 “ slay the unbelievers wherever you find them and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait in every ambush”. Although, what these terrorists do is simply cherrypick, just bits and parts from the Holy Book to justify their act. Still, for them they have accomplished their
So, what was the victim’s sins? They were Christians and for these Muslim terrorists because they were Christians they had to be killed.
In Malaysia, up to now, we have been safe, but for how long.
While the authorities world over grapple with thwarting attacks by Muslim militants and terrorists, Malaysians have to be grateful to the police and the police should be lauded for curbing dozens of bombing plots and attacks. If any, the only successful ISIS attack here, was the June 28, 2016 attack, when ISIS militants lobbed a grenade into the Movida Bar, in Puchong.
Since 2013, Malaysian police have foiled no less than 23 terror attacks in Malaysia, out of which three of the plots involved foreigners. That means, the other 19 were Malaysian home grown terrorists, who were preparing to launch terror attacks in Malaysia. In fact, some 14 of the terror plots were in advance stage of discussion and some were at the stage where chemicals, ammunition and bomb materials had already been procured.
The police, since 2013 have arrested some 445 terror suspects, 189 have been charged in court out of which some 161 have been convicted and jailed. Another 114 were freed while some 50 foreign suspects have been deported.
Despite all these successes, even the police do not deny that Malaysia is a fertile ground for the terror network. From al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Abu Sayyaf, Jemaah Islamiyyah, Kumpulan Mujahiddin Malaysia, Ansar-al-Shariah, Jamatul Mujahideen and scores of other terror cells has and are operating in Malaysia. Malaysia has the perfect infrastructure for any terror groups wanting to set up operations here. Add to that, they also have the network support in order for them to operate below the radar. It is reported that one country each time they want to deport terror suspects, the terror suspects country of choice is Malaysia. Today, refugees like the Rohingyas whom the government, in the spirit of the ummah welcomed with open arms are now found to have become members of Islamic State and other terror groups and they too want to kill Non-Muslims. Just remember, there are almost 150,000 of them languishing here simply breeding and multiplying. They are perfect recruits as foot soldiers for any terror groups.
The police recently began to raise their concern about attacks by “lone-wolves” terrorists, who are often self-radicalised and not necessarily aligned to any particular terror franchise, but still carry out terror attacks with the same reason and aim and they pose a greater danger.
The four now arrested, is an example of lone-wolves operative. They are equally or more dangerous than those members of terror groups, since as individuals they are more difficult to be identified or monitored let alone foiling their terror plots. The danger from long wolf terrorists cannot be down played. Afterall, in a recent survey, which was conducted across four countries - Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand revealed that 28% of Malaysian Muslims demonstrated “violence receptive” tendencies , meaning that they did not reject violence, showed support for violence of justified violence in the name of Islam. Now, how many of the 28% could be so self radicalised, that death for them become a glorious calling, go forth to commit to their cause.
The police, until now have been one step ahead and have been continuously foiling many of the attacks, just in time. For example, last December, two terror plots whose intended targets were Non-Muslim places of worship in the Klang valley. The terror suspect had planned to use improvised explosive device on their intended targets. Earlier last year, the police arrested a woman who had planned to crash into non-Muslim places of worship using a car laden with gas cylinder as detonator. Just, two months ago, yet another terror plot to attack the Freemason building in Johor Bahru was foiled by our ever vigilant police.
Clearly, Malaysia is at high risk of a terror attack. The terrorists taunt that the police has to be lucky always, but they the terrorists have to be lucky just once. The terror attacks on Christians and churches from Egypt, to Indonesia and to the recent in Sri Lanka, is a chilling reminder.
Malaysians and particularly Non-Muslims owe a deep gratitude to the police for thus far keeping Malaysia safe and Non-Muslims free from harm. The question is for how long more. Frighteningly, it’s no longer a question of if but more of when. We all can only pray, that the evil will never befall Malaysia.
Perhaps, this Hari Raya festive season, how about walking into the police station with a bag of cookies, Raya goodies and Kurma, and wish the boys in blue Selamat Hari Raya and thank them for keeping Malaysia and you safe.

My comments :
Thank you Norman Fernandez.
Since Norman has referred two verses from the Quran ie Surah 9:5 and Surah 2:191 allow me to quote them again, but including a few verses before and after - for the context.
9:2 Therefore, roam the earth freely for four months, and know that you cannot escape from Allah, and that Allah humiliates the disbelievers.
9:3 A proclamation is herein issued from Allah and His messenger to all the people on the great day of pilgrimage, that Allah has disowned the mushrikeen, and so did His messenger. Thus, if you repent, it would be better for you. But if you turn away, then know that you can never escape from Allah. Promise those who disbelieve a painful retribution.
9:5 Once the sanctioned months are past, (and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the mushrikeen when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the salat and zakat, you shall let them go. Allah is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
9:7 How can the idol worshipers demand any pledge from Allah and from His messenger? Exempted are those who have signed a peace treaty with you at the masajidil haram. If they honor and uphold such a treaty, you shall uphold it as well. Allah loves the righteous.
9:8 How can they (demand a pledge) when they never observed any rights of kinship between you and them, nor any covenant, if they ever had a chance to prevail. They pacified you with lip service, while their hearts were in opposition, and most of them are wicked.
My comments : 9:5 is part of the narrative about peace treaties between people during times of war or hostilities. It could be any war like the Vietnam War, the war in Syria or Libya now etc. There is no arbitrary killing of anyone for any type of no good reason, especially for their religious beliefs.
This is reinforced by these other verses, one of which has been quoted by Norman :
2:190 You may fight in the cause of Allah against those who attack you, but do not aggress. Allah does not love the aggressors.
2:191 You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the masaajidil haraam unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers.
2:192 If they refrain, then Allah is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
2:193 You may also fight them to eliminate oppression, and to serve Allah freely. If they refrain, you shall not aggress; aggression is permitted only against the aggressors.
Please note the following :
- do not aggress,
- Allah does not love aggressors,
- those who wage war against you,
- evict them whence they evicted you,
- if they attack you,
- if they refrain Allah is Forgiver,
- you shall not aggress,
- aggression permitted only against aggressor.
Clearly you cannot arbitrarily attack anyone or wage war on anyone unless they attacked you first or waged war on you first. You cannot be an aggressor against people. The Geneva "conventions" (on the conduct of war) reflect these verses as well.
