KOTA BARU: Continuous rain in some parts of Kelantan resulted in Golok river in Rantau Panjang to swell to above the "warning" level.

As of 8pm, state Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that the river's water level has reached 8m, which is the warning level.

The department on its website also stated that Kelantan river had risen to "alert" levels as at 8pm.

At Kusial Baru, the water level was recorded at 12.82m, at Kuala Krai (20.74m) and Kusial (12.74m).

Other rivers were reported to have recorded a slight increase, but still below the alert level.

Meanwhile, two flood relief centres in Kuala Krai namely; Masjid Lama Keroh and SK Guchil which opened yesterday for 14 flood victims, were closed this evening. All victims have been allowed to return to their respective homes today when floodwater in the areas receded.

Flood situation in some parts of the state improved slightly today, especially in Kuala Krai and Jeli districts.

However, heavy rains are still being reported in other districts including Tumpat, Pasir Putih and Kota Baru. - NST
