Malaysia bags two Golden City Gate Awards in Berlin
PETALING JAYA: Tourism Malaysia made a name for itself on the international stage when it bagged two prestigious Golden City Gate Awards at the annual International Tourismus Börse (ITB) in Berlin last month.
Touted as the one of the world’s largest and most prestigious tourism trade events, Malaysia was awarded First Star in the print category for its visual campaign called “Wau” and Second Star for a commercial spot titled “Malaysia: Land of Memories.”
Speaking about the work that was not only creative and graceful, but also captured the diversity and culture of Malaysia, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, said, “We are very happy to receive these awards. It’s a wonderful recognition for our promotional efforts.
“It will open up the eyes of the world to the rich culture and heritage we have in Malaysia.”
The Golden City Gate Awards, which recognises the best in film, print and multimedia promotions in the tourism industry, is presented annually over five days at the ITB-Cinema at the ITB in Berlin.
The competition is divided into six categories i.e. City tourism; Hotel; Region; Economy; Spots & Commercials; and TV-Travel Magazine.
Its international jury meanwhile comprised notable figures in a variety of sectors such as city marketing, hotel management, artists, associations, and those of the travel industry.
The Golden City Gate Awards takes place under the patronage of the German Federal Association of Film-and Audio-visual producers.
