Man stabbed in chest by mentally ill neighbour in Balakong
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 ― A 31-year-old man was stabbed in the chest by his neighbour, who is believed to be mentally ill, at his home in Taman Cheras Jaya, Balakong near here today.
He was rushed to Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia here and his condition is reported to be stable.
In the 4 am incident, the victim was approached by the 34-year-old man who scolded him before knifing him in the chest.
Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said the suspect then fled.
“Initial investigations found the suspect had been disturbing people in the neighbourhood and a police report had been lodged on this,” he told Bernama.
He said police picked him up at 4 pm at his home today after efforts by family members to get him to surrender himself failed.
“He responded aggressively forcing police to use a Taser gun against him,” he said, adding the suspect was brought to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for psychiatric evaluation,
“According the family, he had not received any treatment at any hospital the past year,’ said Othman. ― Bernama
