KUALA LUMPUR ― Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has left his Langgak Duta residence for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya today.
His car was seen leaving the premises at 9.20am accompanied by police escort.
The entourage is believed to include his new legal team led by former Solicitor-General II Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden.
This morning, Najib will have to turn up at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to be questioned.
The investigation has seen raids launched on the Prime Minister’s Office in Perdana Putra, as well as private properties linked to the Pekan MP, including the Taman Duta mansion where he and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are currently living, and two luxury condominium units at Block A and B of the PavilionResidences in Kuala Lumpur. – MALAY MAIL

US DOJ says pursuing investigations related to 1MDB

KUALA LUMPUR― The US Department of Justice said today it would continue to pursue investigations into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and looked forward to working with Malaysian law enforcement authorities, which have reopened a probe into the fund following a change of government this month.
“The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that the United States and its financial system are not threatened by corrupt individuals and kleptocrats who seek to hide their ill-gotten wealth,” a DoJ spokesperson said in an email statement to Reuters.
“Whenever possible, recovered assets will be used to benefit the people harmed by these acts of corruption and abuse of office,” the statement added.
The US filed forfeiture complaints in 2016 and 2017 seeking to recover over US$1.7 billion(RM6.74 billion) in assets traceable to funds allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB.
