KOTA KINABALU: Police have completed their investigation into the alleged criminal threat by former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman against the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin over the May 10 swearing-in ceremony.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din said the investigation papers had been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.
He said the police had yet to record a statement from Musa, who is believed to have left the country on May 17 and to be in Britain currently.
“Bukit Aman is handling efforts to get Musa ... I cannot say anything more,” he told reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties from Kota Kinabalu city police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra to Asst Comm Habibi Majinji, who was an assistant director at Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department.
Musa’s son, former Sabah Umno Youth chief Yamani Hafez, has also not been seen in the country since winning the Sipitang Parliament seat in the May election.
He has yet to be sworn in as a parliamentarian.
Yamani is not wanted by the police but is believed to be with other family members in the UK.
On July 17, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said they were confident that Musa would return to Malaysia soon and indicated that it was not necessary to send a team to Britain to record his statement.
He said police had alerted their British counterparts about the matter as they needed to record Musa’s statement over the report lodged by the governor.
After the May 9 general election, the former Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Musa was sworn in on May 10 but lost his 31-seat majority in the 60-member state assembly two days later.
Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was sworn in as Chief Minister on May 12.
Musa, in subsequent statements issued, claimed that he was not on the run, and was in Britain seeking medical treatment and attending to personal matters.
On the handing over of duties, ACP Chandra, who has been the city police chief for the last four years, will head the Strategic Resources and Technology Department at the Kepayan state police headquarters.- Star
