‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ is Getting a Sequel on Netflix

A sequel to Lana Condor’s “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” is officially in talks between Paramount Pictures and Netflix

The first film broke records upon its release, becoming one of Netflix’s “most viewed original films ever with strong repeat viewing.”

The sequel is part of a multi-picture deal that Paramount Pictures struck with Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For the record, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” was not made for Netflix, but was sold to the streaming giant after its production at Awesomeness, which Paramount Pictures’ parent company Viacom acquired just before the “Asian August.”

The sequel is expected to pick up where the first movie left off, about halfway through Jenny Han’s second book in the trilogy, “P.S. I Still Love You.”

That could be somewhere around the introduction of John Ambrose McClaren (Jordan Burtchett), a boy whom Covey knew from Model United Nations.

In the wake of the news, director Susan Johnson reportedly took to Instagram to thank fans in what appeared to be a confirmation but deleted the post shortly.

“Well, the cat’s out of the bag! Thanks for the support, everyone!!! It’s all you!”

While Netflix has not confirmed such sequel, fans are eager to see Covey and Noah Centineo’s Peter Kavinsky prepare for college.

However, with McClaren’s arrival and Josh Sanderson (Israel Broussard) just around the corner, it’s unclear where Covey finds herself in after the first film.

Despite its success, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” has its own share of controversy. Critics have pointed out its lack of Asian men, especially one as Covey’s crushes.

But Condor has since defended the film’s casting, saying, “We tried to stay really close to the book and they weren’t written that way. If Jenny was telling a different story, we would tell it.”
