Honda suspends woman over remarks on fireman’s death
PETALING JAYA: A Honda dealer today suspended one of its employees who posted an insensitive comment online over the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Honda Sri Utama Auto Malaysia, which operates in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, apologised on behalf of the female employee.
“We do not condone nor will tolerate such behaviour online or offline. At this moment, we have suspended the said staff and started an internal investigation, and we will take the sternest action possible,” said the company’s director Wong Chee Keong, who also offered his condolences to Adib’s family.
Wong is believed to be referring to online remarks posted in response to a video clip of Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad and Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin speaking to the media following Adib’s death.
The Honda employee said Adib’s death was not a failure of the government but God’s failure in healing Adib.
Adib, who was with the Subang Jaya fire station, was assaulted by a mob during the Sri Maha Mariamman temple fracas in Seafield, Subang Jaya last month.
He died last night at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
He was buried in Kedah after a funeral in his hometown in Kg Tebengau, Kuala Kedah attended by thousands. - FMT
