Khairuddin praises Johor prince for apologising

Amanah member Khairuddin Abu Hassan has heaped praise on Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for the latter's apology for his past mistakes.

"I admire the crown prince's latest statement apologising for any past mistakes. This apology shows that the crown prince is magnanimous.

"This attitude must be praised because I am confident the crown prince was sincere in making that remark," Khairuddin said in a statement today.

Tunku Ismail posted the apology on Facebook last night, together with a message urging those in the government to stop bickeringwith one another and to start governing.

Last week, Khairuddin had dared Tunku Ismail to abdicate and join politics since the latter was fond of making political remarks.

In his statement today, Khairuddin reiterated that members of the royalty should be mindful when speaking on current affairs.

"Honest reprimands, which are constructive and without any political motive, are encouraged, but don't make any political remarks especially attacking certain leaders," he said.

The Johor crown prince often makes politically-flavoured remarks on social media.

Just prior the 14th general election, he had made veiled swipes at Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is now prime minister.

Tunku Ismail also often takes jabs at Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. - Mkini
