‘Bridesmaid’ At Wedding in China Turns Out to Be Groom’s Best Friend

A video of a wedding in northern China showing a man dressed as a bridesmaid has caught the attention of eagle-eyed netizens on social media.

According to Btime.com, the wedding took place in Chengde, Hebei province some time in February, but the footage only started circulating online recently.

 

A number of accounts claimed that the man in the dress, who happens to be the groom’s best friend, volunteered to wear a white dress after the couple failed to find enough bridesmaids for the ceremony.

In the video, the man is seen standing right in front of a line of bridesmaids, smiling and clapping as the groom and bride hug each other.

Soon after the video went viral, the groom, identified only as Bai, clarified that while the man is indeed his best friend, his cross-dressing was purely for entertainment purposes.

According to Bai, he and his wife actually found enough bridesmaids for the ceremony but thought of ways to make it more fun.

Enter the man who has been Bai’s best friend since they were classmates in school.

While his cross-dressing did not emerge from a need to save to the day, netizens still praised him for his slightly-misleading appearance and showmanship.
