Covid-19 deaths (Oct 6): 117 reported fatalities, the total at 26,876


 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported a total of 117 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Oct 5), bringing the cumulative death toll to 26,876.

This is up from yesterday's total of 76, which was the lowest number of reported deaths in 92 days.

From the newly reported deaths yesterday, 13.6 percent or 16 died before they could receive treatment at a hospital.

Sarawak had the highest number of fatalities with 21. The other states were as follows: Johor (19), Perak (14), Selangor (14), Kelantan (11), Sabah (11), Kedah (8),Terengganu (5), Pahang (4), Kuala Lumpur (4), Malacca (2), Perlis (2), Negri Sembilan (1) and Penang (1).

There were no deaths recorded in Labuan or Putrajaya.

As of yesterday, there were 135,945 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 23.1 percent from the 174,492 active Covid-19 cases a week ago.

Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has fallen by 46.2 percent from 252,668,

The Health Ministry reported 8,817 new cases yesterday.

To date, 956 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 14 new clusters reported yesterday.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 16.9 percent from the 1,151 active clusters a week ago.

The 14 new clusters yesterday comprised 10 workplace clusters (71.4 percent), two community clusters (14.3 percent), one high-risk group cluster (7.1 percent) and one private education institute cluster (7.1 percent).

Previously, the Health Ministry released deaths statistics together with the number of new Covid-19 cases in the evening. This had since changed.

Deaths statistics are now released after midnight along with other more detailed data. Malaysiakini reports them in the morning.
