Ingredients:
- 5-7 inches turmeric root
- 2 lemons
- Water
- Raw honey
- 5-7 tamarinds
- Blender
- Strainer
- Bowl
- Mason jar/ glass container with a lid
- First of all, you need to peel the turmeric root. It is recommended to wear gloves because turmeric has a strong color and it is likely to turn your fingers yellow. Wash your hands with soap and clean the cutting board well once you are done.
- Clean the tamarinds. For this recipe, you will need the inner part of the fruit only.
- Take a larger pot and pour water into it. Then, add the turmeric and boil the mixture for about 20 minutes. The water will quickly turn marigold.
- Take another pan and fill it with an inch of water. Add the tamarinds and whisk using a spoon. The tamarinds should be completely dissolved and you are allowed to add more water, if needed. Once the mixture softens enough, turn of the heat and allow it to cool.
- At this point, you should go back to the first mixture, meaning the marigold water. Add some cold water into it so that it cools off. Then, pour the water and turmeric into a blender and blend well. The boiling step done earlier will enhance the flavor of turmeric root.
- Strain the tamarind mixture by putting a strainer over a small bowl. Mash the substance with a wooden spoon in order to get only the soft bits. You don’t need the peels or seeds of the fruit.
- Put the mashed tamarind to the blender and blend once again. Then, transfer the mixture into a glass container, add some honey, and put the lid on.
- Finally keep the juice refrigerated for about 3-4 days prior use. Consume it on a daily basis.
