MIRI: The DAP, since winning Pujut in the 2011 state election, is unable to show a good report card for achievements, says chairman of the division’s Malaysia Welfare and Dakwah Islamiah Society (Pekida) Lias Julaihi.

“There is no reason for the people in Pujut to continue voting for the opposition as they have brought nothing and are only good in criticising the government.

“So, it is time for the people to make a change and vote for BN (Barisan Nasional) with its proven track record of bringing development for the benefit of the people,” he said when closing a Pekida-organised sepak takraw closed competition at Piasau Jaya Phase 2 hall yesterday.

In view of this, Lias urged voters to reject the opposition and not let Pujut be left out of the mainstream development for the next five years.

“We give our total support to direct BN candidate Datuk Hii King Chiong because we know Pujut can only see development under the BN flag and leadership. Let’s go out in full force on polling day on May 7 and give Hii a big majority.”

UPP Pujut chairman Councillor Bruce Chai, in his address, said Hi through his service centre Majulah Miri had been actively helping the people in voluntary spirit over the last five years.

“He is known for his charity and community work in Miri, and his contributions are not only subjected during election time.”

Meanwhile, UPP Senadin chairman Councillor Keith Chin wanted the young registered voters to be rational when casting their votes, as the future of Sarawak would greatly depend on the outcome on polling day.

“Hii has given various assistance to the people here regardless of race, religion and cultural backgrounds. I believe Hii would make a good people’s representative.”

Chin cited a bridge commisioned by Hii through his service centre as among many community projects that had benefited many.

Also present at the programme were political secretary to chief minister Suzanne Lee Tze Ha and local community leader Penghulu Samion Ghani.
