CM: Rosey to be assistant minister again if she wins
BEKENU: Direct BN candidate for Bekenu, Rosey Yunus, was pleasantly surprised yesterday when Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem announced he would appoint her as an assistant minister if she won the May 7 state polls.
Adenan made the announcement during the ‘Kedayan Makan’ celebration in Bekenu, which was also attended by Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
“It is an honour for the people of Bekenu. We will try our best to repay the chief minister’s trust and confidence in the people of Bekenu,” said Rosey.
Before the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly, she was Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development.
Rosey is in a four-cornered fight in her bid to be re-elected for a third term. Her opponents are Bill Kayong (PKR), independent candidates Jou@Peter Jelin and Austin Sigi Melu.
Meanwhile, at the Tusan beach carnival, Awang Tengah called on the people to rally behind Rosey.
Awang Tengah said he would strive to bring electricity and treated water to the Tusan region in support of the beach development programme.
He called on Subis District officer Husini Bakir to draw up a master plan to tap the district’s natural assets, such as its beautiful beach front.
