Bawang Assan a litmus test for DAP to capture state govt in 2021 – Kit Siang

KUCHING: If DAP can win in Bawang Assan, which was not won by DAP in the 2011 state election, then Sarawak is ready for

DAP’s Sarawak Plan to capture the state government in 2021, said DAP parliamentary leader and Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang.

“If DAP can win in Bawang Assan on May 7, then it will be one powerful evidence that Sarawak is ready for DAP Sarawak

Plan to capture Sarawak state government with like-minded political forces in the next Sarawak state general election in 2021,” he said at a ceramah in Bawang Assan on Sunday night.

The political journey of Sarawak DAP for a more just, equal and democratic society had been an arduous struggle since the establishment of Sarawak DAP 38 years ago in 1978, he said.

“Is it possible for Sarawak DAP and likeminded political forces to aim for Sarawak state government in the next Sarawak state election in 2021?

“The answer is why not – if Penang and Selangor can continue to be governed by Pakatan Harapan state governments, and not by Umno/BN governments.

The real answer lies on the outcome of the May 7 Polling Day!”

On a different matter, Lim said he had written a request to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for him to appear before the Cabinet meeting in Kuching on Wednesday to present a case on why the Cabinet must take a stand on the RM50-billion 1MDB scandal.

“I hope to get a positive response so that I can appear before the Cabinet at its meeting in Kuching, as I have not been able to present an urgent and imperative case for the Cabinet to take a stand on the 1MDB scandal in the recent meeting of Parliament,” he said in Kapit yesterday.

“This is because I had been suspended from Parliament for six months in wanting the Prime Minister to assume full responsibility and give accountability for his twin mega scandals.”

He said he had made it clear when he was suspended from Parliament that he would make up for his “forced” absence from Parliament in a nation-wide tour of parliamentary constituencies to seek public feedback whether Malaysians want Najib to

answer these questions: Where the monies from Najib’s twin mega scandals came from, and where the monies have gone to.

“I can now state with authority that in my visit to 120 parliamentary constituencies, the overwhelming majority of Malaysians want Najib to answer these two simple questions.

“If I can appear before the Cabinet at its meeting in Kuching, I would also brief the Prime Minister and all the Cabinet Ministers about the public feedback I received in my visit to 120 parliamentary constituencies in the past six months.”
