KUCHING: A motorist cheated death after colliding into a heavy machinery parked on the road side at KM23 Jalan Asajaya-Kota Samarahan on Sunday night.

According to Samarahan police chief DSP Lee Chong Chen, the incident happened around 8.30pm when the motorist was heading to Asajaya from Kota Samarahan.

Three other persons in the same vehicle escaped with minor injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In a separate accident, seven persons, including a pregnant woman, were rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after a road accident involving two cars at Km5 Jalan Bau-Lundu around 1.50pm yesterday.

According to sources from the Fire and Rescue Department, two persons suffered serious injuries.
