Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar today on lack of buying interest.

At 9.20am, the local unit was quoted at 4.0250/0300 against the greenback from 4.0160/0210 at 5pm on Tuesday.

The local note was also traded mostly lower against other major currencies.

It rose slightly against the Singapore dollar to 2.9326/9380 from Tuesday’s close of 2.9331/9387 but went down against the euro to 4.5503/5575 from 4.5473/5542 yesterday.

The ringgit decreased against the yen to 3.6950/7013 from 3.6622/6678 and weakened against the British pound to 5.8121/8217 from 5.8099/8180.
