NAZRI TO DIE WITH PLEASURE OR DISILLUSIONMENT? I WOULD HAVE DIED IF I SAW BILLION’S IN NAJIB’S A/C – MINISTER

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz today questioned Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s claim of “nearly fainting” after allegedly discovering billions in the prime minister’s account, saying he would have died from shock if he saw the amount himself.

The tourism minister added since the sacked deputy prime minister did not actually pass out, it was unlikely that Datuk Seri Najib Razak had RM1 billion in his accounts prior to a US$681 million donation from a Middle Eastern donor in 2013.

“Why didn’t he (Muhyiddin) faint then? Why ‘almost fainted’? If it is true, he should have fainted,” he told reporters after launching the Bermalam di Muzium 2016 programme at the National Museum.

“If I had seen RM4 billion, I wouldn’t have just fainted, I would have died on the spot!”

Nazri added that he knew Prime Minister Najib well enough to be certain that the allegation was not true.

Muhyiddin on Sunday reportedly claimed that Najib had close to RM1 billion in his private accounts prior to a US$681 million deposit by an Arab donor in 2013.

The sacked deputy prime minister alleged that he was informed of this by former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, and that he “almost fainted” upon seeing the amount.

He further alleged that there could have been up to RM4 billion in Najib’s accounts then.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday criticised Muhyiddin for making the allegation based on hearsay.
