Gaming superstars talk about what it was like to be famous in South Korea
Ah, the good old days.
A handful of some of the most successful professional StarCraft players were gathered by South Korean YouTube channel Solfa to talk about their glory days at the height of esports — at least StarCraft esports. These players talk about how they used to get recognized in public almost every day, the amount of time they would put into StarCraft, and how they convinced their parents that their pursuits were worthwhile (hint: money).
StarCraft was huge in South Korea throughout the 2000s, drawing in crowds of over 100,000 for some live events, more than any single-game esports event has been able to replicate since.
