Hadi demands show of loyalty for Fastaqim rally

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has urged party members to show their loyalty by attending the Himpunan Fastaqim 2.0 rally in Kuala Terengganu on Sept 29 and 30.

The rally, expected to draw a crowd of 200,000, is considered as the party's preparation to face the 14th General Election.

“(PAS members should) fulfil their promises and pledge their loyalty to the struggle of Islam and the commitment to save our beloved country.

“May all your struggles and sacrifices and efforts to ensure victory be rewarded by Allah,” Hadi was quoted as saying in party organ Harakah Daily.

Hadi also added that the Islamist party aims to turn even non-Muslims against the “chauvinism and narrow-mindedness” of other parties.

“Our approach is to unite Malaysia's multi-religious society to respect Islam, which gives a guarantee of justice to all, including non-Muslims, against chauvinism and narrow-mindedness as practiced by certain parties,” he said.

Amanah’s Sepang MP Mohd Hanipa Maidin, in a sharp rebuke, said Hadi’s call for loyalty was “first class” nonsense.

“Since when does attending a political event related to PAS like Fastaqim 2.0 have anything to do with fulfilling promises or being loyal to the struggle of the party?  

“Does that mean that party members who cannot attend will be seen as breaking their promise and disloyal?”

“Since when has this holy party monopolised the definition of Islamic struggle?” Hanipa asked on his Facebook page.

He also ridiculed Hadi's call for Malaysia to be saved.

“The call is good, but your failure and that of the party's MPs to raise your voices in Parliament against wastage and the abuse of state funds in 1MDB, can be interpreted as you failing to become a role model for the party members who love the country,” he said.- Mkini
