Sime Darby rises 12%; Volume more than triples

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 4): Sime Darby Bhd rose 12 percent, the biggest gain since Nov. 30 compared with end-of-day price changes and almost 30 times the country's benchmark index.

The shares climbed to RM2.69 from RM2.41. Trading volume was more than triple the 30-day average of 967,081 for this time of day.

Sime Darby's move compares with the 0.4 percent gain in the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index - Kuala Lumpur Composite Index and the 0.6 percent advance in the MSCI AC Asia Pacific Index. The stock is 5.5 percent below the Bloomberg consensus one-year target price.
