DBKL wants registration of all Hindu temples in KL

Every Hindu temple in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur will have to be registered with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for the authorities to be clear about the temples’ status and those responsible for managing or operating them.
Deputy Federal Territories Minister Shahruddin Md Salleh said the move was for DBKL to have a complete list of the temples, the status of the land that these places of worship were constructed on, and the committees that were in charge of managing the premises.
With such a list, it would be easier for DBKL to take action against unregistered temples, he said, adding that the closing date for registration and the type of action against unregistered temples had yet to be decided.
"We do not know much about many of these temples and there are some whose existence we don’t even know of. This is why it is important for each of them to be registered.
"If they are not registered and with no one responsible managing them, we will take action,” he told reporters after officiating at the handing over of Rumah Baiti Jannati today.
