Dr M: When you hit retirement age, keep on working like me
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today imparted life advice at an investors' conference by telling them to keep working even after they hit the retirement age.
"When you reach retirement age, keep on working," he said during a dialogue session at the Invest Malaysia 2019 conference in Kuala Lumpur.
His answer, which was in response to the moderator's query for "life principles" he could share, elicited laughter from the crowd.
"The first time I became prime minister, it was at the age of 56, that was the age of retirement (but) I was just beginning.
"And now I don't have to tell you what my age is," he said.
Mahathir first became prime minister in 1981 until he gave up the position for retirement in 2003.
However, he soon became involved in politics again when he began to criticise his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and later Najib Abdul Razak.
The 93-year-old once again became prime minister last year, after leading the Pakatan Harapan coalition to victory in the 14th general election.
He is currently the oldest sitting state leader in the world. - Mkini
