Explain ‘two-faced’ stance on Umno, Amanah man tells PAS
While PAS may seem eager to help Umno campaign during by-elections, it does not appear keen on forming a unity government in east coast states, said Terengganu Amanah head Raja Kamarul Bahrin Raja Ahmad.
In a statement today, Raja Kamarul Bahrin described PAS as being "two-faced" and asked if the party had trouble accepting Umno in Terengganu and Kelantan because of "old wounds".
"Why is PAS showing two faces? They are friendly with Umno on the west coast but behave differently in Terengganu and Kelantan," asked Raja Kamarul Bahrin, a former PAS member.
He said PAS members were owed an explanation by their party leaders, since the grassroots had made sacrifices on Umno’s behalf during recent by-election campaigns.
Following the first technical committee meeting between Umno and PAS last week, Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan had publicly mooted unity governments in states where both parties are governing.
Umno is leading the state government in Perlis and Pahang, while PAS controls Kelantan and Terengganu.
However, PAS vice-president Iskandar Abdul Samad's immediate reaction had been that it was still too early to make such commitments, as co-operation with Umno was limited to by-election campaigns at this point. - Mkini
