Ringgit higher against US dollar in early session
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar and other major currencies today, lifted by continued buying support for the local unit.
At 9.20am, the local note was traded at 4.0420/0470 to the greenback from 4.0470/0510 on Tuesday.
Dealers attributed the rise to a technical correction after a sharp decline yesterday.
The local note rebounded against the Singapore dollar to 2.9530/9575 from yesterday’s 2.9579/9630 and gained against the yen to 3.7021/7077 from Tuesday’s 3.7135/7182.
The ringgit also strengthened against the British pound to 5.8403/8483 from 5.8422/8496 and improved against the euro to 4.5986/6059 from yesterday’s 4.6091/6153.
