Put differences aside when campaigning, Zahid tells political parties

The Barisan Nasional (bN) leader cited his act of eating breakfast with PAS representatives at the Sungai Besar nomination centre earlier today and speaking to PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as models of behaviour to follow.

“I hope a mature political stance as such can also be seen in Kuala Kangsar as for the first time there was peace between all three parties.

“We did not just discuss on political issues but we ate together and if this can be done, it can be applied during the campaigning period as well as among the parties,” he told reporters after the nomination for the Sungai Besar federal by-election ended.

Separately, he praised BN’s Sungai Besar candidate, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, describing him as a good leader with a track record as Sungai Panjang assemblyman.

On BN's focus for the Sungai Besar by-election, Zahid said the party would look into the welfare of citizens, but declined to elaborate.

Budiman said it was going to be difficult to penetrate DAP's Sekinchan stronghold, saying that he would nevertheless attempt to make inroads in the area.

“I will extend my service to the people in Sekinchan as I know most people here,” he said.

The Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election will see Budiman facing off against Dr Rani Osman from PAS and Azhar Shukur from Parti Amanah Negara.
