Reconsider decision to join PBB, Adenan tells nine assemblymen
KUCHING: The nine partyless assemblymen who applied to join PBB have been asked to reconsider their decision and to consult their constituents on whether they should be joining the party.
PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the nine assemblymen would be given until the end of June to consult with constituents and they would have to report back to PBB on whether they were supportive of them in joining the party.
“We have asked the nine who applied to join PBB to reconsider their decision (and) to go back to the constituency and ask the constituents what they ought to do.
“If they, after consulting with their constituents, still insist on joining PBB, then we have no choice but to entertain their applications favourably,” the chief minister told a press conference after chairing the party supreme council meeting today (June 5).
He also said that the party would not support the so called Hudud Bill tabled by PAS president and Marang MP Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
“We will not support the so called Hudud Bill.”
On why PBB opposed the Hudud Bill, Adenan said: “We are a multiracial country. Muslims only constitute 25 per cent or so of the population. We are not Kelantan. But anyway, our principle is we are against the Hudud Bill.”
