Liverpool receive boost in hunt for €30m contract rebel

Mahmoud Dahoud has been a top target of ours for quite some time, and he’s a popular choice among Liverpool fans. We’ve just received a big boost in the hunt for his signature following news that he’s turned down a contract extension at Borussia Monchengladbach, although what exactly that means for us is unclear, as reported by German publication Express.

The 20-year-old is a hugely talented midfielder, and would be a superb signing if we could get a deal done. With Gladbach already seeing a couple of their biggest stars leave the club this summer though, they’re understandably unwilling to let Dahoud go too.

As the report suggests, his current contract doesn’t come to an end until 2018. That means the Bundesliga side aren’t necessarily going to be forced into selling this summer, but won’t be able to hold onto him all that much longer. Jurgen Klopp may have to wait until next summer to land his man, but the contract rebel doesn’t look like he’ll be staying in Germany all that much longer.

Despite the fact that we’re apparently willing to offer €30m for the German star (via Express), Gladbach seem determined to remain steadfast and put their foot down. Things change drastically in the transfer market though, so who knows what will happen before the 2016/17 campaign gets underway.
