This Is Why You Should Never Let Your Dog Lick You!

As cute as it seems, but letting your dog lick you can be quite dangerous. This doesn’t mean that your furry friend is trying to intentionally harm you, but the real problem lies in the bacteria on their tongue.

Are dog mouths really cleaner than human mouths?

This is definitely not true. According to Marty Becker, author of ‘Chicken Soup for the Dog Owner’s Soul, “All you have to do is look, watch, smell and you’ll realize that is not true.

They raid the garbage can. You know, we give each other a peck on the cheek when we say hello, they give each other a peck on the rear end.”

“It is not just what is carried in saliva. Dogs spend half their life with their noses in nasty corners or hovering over dog droppings so their muzzles are full of bacteria, viruses and germs of all sorts,” John Oxford, professor of virology and bacteriology at the Queen Mary University in London added.

These viruses and germs cause serious and highly dangerous condition, as one U.K women learned though unpleasant situation.

She got the infection from her dog`s saliva, without being aware of it. She didn’t realize that there was something wrong until she noticed her speech changed and she started mumbling over the phone.

Her health worsened rapidly and she was slumped in her chair by the time the ambulance arrived. It took her two weeks to recover, taking plenty of antibiotics.

It has been shown that what caused this infection was the to capnocytophaga canimorsus bacteria, which is commonly found in the mouths of dogs and cats.

There are many other diseases that your dog can pass onto you. Among them are:

Ringworm Infection

This one is probably the easiest disease for you furry fiend to pass onto you. If your dog has ringworm bacteria round their mouth and you let them kiss you, you get the infection as well.

MRSA

MRSA infection in humans is manifested by nasty lesions and it can be caused by a lick from your dog. Although dogs carry MRSA without any risk, the problem occurs when the owner comes into contact with this bacterium.

Staphylococcus Aureus

This bacteria resembles MRSA and it is caused by similar bacteria found in your dog`s mouth.

4. Capnocytophaga Canimorsus

This one is really, really, really bad! Namely, a man whose wound was licked by his dog got this infection and eventually got his foot amputated.

So, avoid these kisses and don’t let your dog lick you at any cost. No matter how cute and affectionate that seems, it exposes you to serious health threats.
