Manufacturers in a tough spot
KUALA LUMPUR: Rising costs of doing business due to government policies and/or lack of regulation in recent years have put manufacturers in a tough spot, leading to some closing their operations here.
JT International Bhd (JTI Malaysia) on May 8 joined a growing list of multinational corporations (MNCs) pulling their manufacturing operations out of the country, citing tough operating environment. Indeed, JTI Malaysia had cited the “extremely challenging” operating environment here on its decision to close its Shah Alam, Selangor plant by the end of the year.
