Mega Man stands right alongside Super Mario Bros. as one of the pioneers of video game platforming, and is just as iconic in its design. So a Super Mario Maker-esque level creator for Mega Man sounds like the perfect pairing.

Mega Maker is a fan-made Mega Man level creator that is scheduled to come out July 15, available to download on PC for free. It has dozens of customizable options to create your own unique Mega Man levels, including nearly 50 different kinds of enemies and over 100 tilesets.

The project isn't associated with Capcom, the publisher of Mega Man, so it's possible the company could send a cease and desist to the Mega Maker developers and shut the project down. Here's hoping a few amazing levels get made first. Read more...
