CIMB’s stakeholding realignment a ‘positive’ for longer-term prospects, say analysts

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): The proposed shareholding realignment undertaken by CIMB Group Holdings Bhd which the banking group announced yesterday, has been viewed positively by analysts, as they see the exercise strengthening CIMB’s longer-term prospects.

In a note today, RHB Research Institute Sdn Bhd pointed out that for the near term, an estimated Common Equity Tier 1(CET1) uplift of 18 basis points (bps) would further boost capital for full adoption of Basel III capital rules and the impact from the implementation of the MFRS 9.
