ANWAR AGAIN EYEING SELANGOR AFTER FAILING TO SNATCH PM’S POST? BLOG URGES NURUL TO ‘CUT LOOSE’ FROM HER DAD, PUT MALAYSIA FIRST – ‘NOT ONLY WILL HE FAIL IN SELANGOR, HE WILL ALSO FAIL TO BECOME PM’

My dear Nurrul…it pains me to have to tell you this because you have been a dutiful daughter to your parents for so long but the vocation you have chosen for yourself makes it imperative that you be told a few home truths that you already know, and yet, filial duties have conflicted with your duties to the greater calling of King and Country. I remember a time many many years ago when I visited your father at his then home in Pantai to wish him well after his release from incarceration and he called you out to keep me company while he had to attend to some calls. I remembered telling you “take care of your Father…he has need of your help in the coming days if he returns to politics”.

Let us not dwell too much in the past even if there are valuable lessons to be learned from the past. I want to talk to you of your future and I do so because you have chosen to served your country in that most noble of profession, Politics. Yes Nurrul, Politics can be a noble profession when one chose to do politics as some politicians do : to serve King, Country and it’s People to the exclusion of everything else.

From the time of your first political victory in Lembah Pantai against Sharizat, you have rightly earned your place as a politician of some note in Malaysian politics. Towards this end, you have since courageously moved forward to secure and build your own political career, though there have been times when you were distracted by the political fortunes of your Father.

Today Pakatan Harapan is in government. You are part of the political juggernaut that has dismissed a corrupt and arrogant Umno led BN government from Putrajaya. You are part of that political process that wants to bring change, political awakening and a coming together of all Malaysians towards the future we all aspired to when we voted for Pakatan Harapan during GE14. Pakatan Harapan has come of age…and now, you too must come of age in the choices you must personally make if you are to be a meaningful part of all that is now happening in Politics in Malaysia today. To do this Nurrul, you must become your own person. You cannot be an appendage to the political fortunes of your father or mother…you must become your own person now.

More critical to your political fortunes and in the eyes of the people who sees so much of their future in the likes of you and the many other new generations of political leaders emerging from the victory of GE14….you must cut yourself loose from the political designs of your own father over Selangor and what is to come after Selangor.

I know too well what Anwar Ibrahim wants to do with Selangor…another “Kajang Episode”! There is no need to remind you that Kajang failed. And not only that, Anwar Ibrahim is going to do to Selangor what he has done to PKR, and you Nurrul, knows what PKR is better than me or anyone else.

Cut your self loose and no longer be party to what Anwar Ibrahim wants to do to Selangor while you still can. Then and only then will you be able to move away from the shadow of what your father has done to his own political career that once held so much promise. A political future that will once again see failure as Anwar Ibrahim do what Anwar Ibrahim does best – doing politics the only way he knows….that most destructive form of politics where one puts one’s vested interest before anyone else.

I will tell you this Nurrul. Your father will fail in Selangor. Your father will fail in his quest to become Prime Minister of Malaysia for the third time and most unfortunate of all…your father will fail himself in his political comeback. He will fail because there is no one more important to Anwar Ibrahim then Anwar Ibrahim….and that, in politics, is fatal.

You know as I know that to propose Dr Idris as MB designate in Selangor is an insult to the people of Selangor because he will only be a proxy of Anwar Ibrahim. I shall talk more of this later, but you should not be party to all this.

In spite of failing himself many times, the people’s affection for your father is still strong and my hope is that with old age, there is enough wisdom in him to not abuse that reserves of affection and trust of the people just to once again, serve himself.

Nurrul, you have so far not failed yourself. You may have stumbled and sometimes cried as you face the tough decisions that you have made with your personal and political life…but out of all that, you have emerged stronger and more sure of yourself that you want to be part of the new political era that is now in front of all of us.

So let me say this again Nurrul. Be the politician you can be. You have the trust and affection of many of us in your political endeavours and your place in the political future of our nation has already been earned by yourself in the things you have done in politics. Move away from the shadow of your own father and be the Nurrul Izzah that you can be…that you already are now.

Najib Razak failed his father. Hishamuddin failed his father….let not Nurrul Izzah fail hers….and more critical to the future of our country, let Nurrul Izzah not failed herself and the people of Malaysia.
