GEORGE TOWN: A photo of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi seated on a wheelchair with a caption saying that he wasn't feeling well has caught netizens by surprise.
In the photo being circulated on social media, Abdullah was seen clad in a red shirt, and his wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah stood beside him.
However, a statement released by his office on Monday, said Abdullah's health was improving and unlike how he was depicted in the picture, which has gone viral.
"Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was in poor health in the past. However, he is now getting better and resting in his house.
"His family thank all well wishers for being concerned about his health," said the statement.
Meanwhile, former Bertam assemblyman Shariful Azhar Othman expressed disappointment over the photo posted on social media, as he had met the former premier two weeks ago.
"Two weeks ago, I met Abdullah at the Carcosa Seri Negara in Kuala Lumpur, and he was in good shape.
"After that Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican accompanied him to visit former Penang Umno chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman in Ampang Hospital before the latter succumbed to cancer last week.
"I believe irresponsible parties had taken a photo of Abdullah and made up the caption themselves," claimed Shariful.
